Many infertility issues can be corrected with surgery, often in outpatient or same-day procedures. These may include removing endometriosis, fibroid tumors, and scar tissue that prevents pregnancy.
In vitro fertilization (IVF) uses assisted reproductive technology to combine eggs with sperm in a lab. It’s the most powerful treatment available to address almost all types of fertility problems. 난임시술
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a procedure that provides a direct view of the internal pelvic structures, and can diagnose problems that cannot be diagnosed by other methods such as ultrasound or MRI. For example, it is used to detect and diagnose polyps (fleshy tissue protruding from the endometrium) uterine fibroids, and ovarian cysts.
A small instrument called a speculum is inserted into your vagina to help the doctor see your cervix. The cervix may then be dilated with medication and the hysteroscope inserted into the womb (uterus). The hysteroscope is connected to a high definition camera which enables doctors to see clearly what is in the womb. A hysteroscope also has a long pair of scissors which can be used to remove or cut away any tissue.
Usually the procedure is carried out on an outpatient basis, so you do not need to stay in hospital overnight. You will be given a sedative, and you should arrange to have someone to drive you home afterwards.
Laparoscopy
A laparoscopy is a surgical procedure that allows doctors to examine the abdominal and pelvic organs. It is a minimally invasive surgery (meaning that it requires fewer incisions than traditional open surgery).
The surgeon inserts a slender tube called a laparoscope through a small incision near the belly button and transmits images to a video screen. This allows the doctor to see and check the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries for scar tissue, adhesions, and fibroid tumours.
During the procedure, the surgeon inflates the abdomen with harmless gas to give them a better view of the abdominal organs. The surgeon can also use the laparoscope to remove or take a sample of tissue for further testing.
They can also repair hernias during a laparoscopy. It is performed as a day surgery at the hospital or an outpatient clinic under general, regional, or local anesthesia. You may feel sore after the procedure and your belly will be bloated from the gas used during surgery.
Ovarian Stimulation
A woman’s natural ovulation cycle dictates the release of one egg, but ovarian stimulation allows for multiple eggs to be released in order to increase the chances of conception. This treatment requires careful monitoring and use of hormone medications to stimulate follicle growth.
This process is used for assisted reproductive procedures including in vitro fertilization and oocyte donation, but it can also be performed as part of fertility preservation treatments such as egg vitrification.
To perform ovarian stimulation, a woman takes hormones in the form of injections, tablets or patches. These are administered daily to encourage follicles to grow. To monitor progress a series of ultrasounds and blood tests are conducted. 서울아이앤여성의원
As the follicles develop they produce estrogen, which causes the endometrium to become more receptive to an embryo. At this point a woman may begin to feel swollen and have abdominal pain. If these symptoms occur, it is important to contact the doctor because they are a sign of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
The risk of this complication can be reduced by limiting activity, drinking electrolyte-rich fluids and draining the excess fluid that accumulates in the abdomen.
Egg Retrieval
When a person ovulates naturally, one mature egg enters the fallopian tube where it can be fertilized with sperm. With egg retrieval, we try to collect multiple mature eggs from your ovaries during the same ovulation cycle by injecting fertility-boosting medications and performing a surgical procedure.
During the procedure, we use ultrasound to identify follicles and guide a needle through your vagina to enter each follicle and aspirate its contents. After aspirating the follicles, we extract the mature eggs from each follicle using suction. The whole process takes less than an hour.
We perform the surgery under sedation so that you will not feel any pain or remember the procedure. You will need a friend or family member to drive you home afterward because you will still be groggy for the next few hours.
You may experience soreness in the vagina or abdomen and some spotting for a few days after egg retrieval. You can take over-the-counter pain relievers to manage these symptoms.
