How a Hair Transplant Works
A hair transplant is a surgery that moves healthy hairs from a thick area to bald or thinning areas of the scalp. This helps improve baldness and gives you a fuller, more natural-looking head of hair. Your dermatologist (healthcare provider who specializes in skin) or plastic surgeon may perform the procedure.서면모발이식
Hair transplants can be used to treat both male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness. They cannot stop baldness from progressing, but they can give you a much more natural-looking head of hair and help restore your self-esteem.
Before your surgery, you will receive local anesthesia to numb the back of your scalp. You will also be given medicine to relax you. Then, your doctor will choose one of the following techniques:
For follicular unit strip surgery, your doctor will remove a 6- to 10-inch strip of hairy scalp from the back of your head. This is called the donor area. Then, your doctor will sew the area closed.
During this process, you will feel strong tugging and occasional pain. For follicular unit extraction, your doctor will use a tube-like instrument to punch small holes in the donor area of your scalp. Each hole is around 1 mm in size and holds only one to two hairs. A needle-like instrument is then used to collect the hairs. These are called follicular units (FUs).
Your doctor will place the FUs in tiny cuts made in the bald or thinning area of your scalp. They will then secure the FUs with tiny stitches. The number of grafts you will need will depend on your specific situation. During the next few months, your new hair will grow in and fill out the bald or thinning areas of your scalp.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), some of your transplanted follicles may not “take.” This means that the follicles die and no new hair grows in their place. It is important to follow your surgeon’s postprocedure instructions, which include taking antibiotics and using a special hair care regimen.
Most people who have a hair transplant experience good results, but it will take time for your new hair to grow in. The results will not appear right away because your regrown hair will be thinner than your original, thicker hair. However, by the third month after your surgery, you should begin to see your results.
Unlike other hair loss treatments, a hair transplant can help you look younger. It can also make your existing hair appear fuller and thicker. But if you lose more hair after the procedure, it may not be as effective as other treatments. Some people even need to have another hair transplant to get the results they want. Your dermatologist will recommend medicine to prevent or slow further hair loss and thinning. This will keep your results lasting longer.부산탈모병원
